Blurb-

Patrick and Maeve Dolan left the safety of their New York human settlement on a sultry summer night and never returned. Ambushed by the Winter Court guards during their search for information on how to free humanity from faery rule, they are now ensnared in the Winter King Landric’s web, and he has some questions of his own.

The Winter King is curious about the way the Dolans run their city. In a surprising turn of events, he’s determined to learn all about their 16-year-old son, Eirnin. Landric separates the couple, threatens and tortures to the best of his ability, but the Dolans won’t give up the information he’s after.

Murphy, one of King Landric’s guards has been a ward of the Winter Court for as long as he can remember. Trained from childhood to be as quiet and obedient as possible, he’s always been the perfect servant. At least, until Princess Lumi strolled into his life and made him question everything he believes in.

When the princess vanishes without a trace in the middle of the night, Landric is determined Patrick’s people had something to do with it. Without the only connection to kindness and humanity they had, Murphy and Patrick both find themselves falling into very different kinds of insanity.

Will Murphy follow his heart just this once, choose his own side and find Lumi? Will Patrick’s hope dwindle before he can escape and save his family? Or will their unyielding resistance be the death of them all?

Jaime's Review:

Ensnared...it is the perfect beginning. We finally get to know what happened to Maeve and Pat. It is heart-wrenching I'll tell you that much!

There's a couple of guys that I would love nothing more than to hop in this book and kick in the crotch. Yeah, they would only be so lucky. Hugh and Khan. Watch out for them.

We also get to see the inside life of Lumi before she got to Fi's.
The poor girl, I've never felt so bad for someone in a book. The hate she was surrounded with? The feeling of not being wanted? Everyone else is better and treated better than you. And you are his daughter!

I am glad she ended up with Fi and Eir in Uprising. At least while I was reading Ensnared that I knew that she was safe for now. Her dad, the Winter King, is a straight erm, not cool at all. This is also perfect for the young readers as well. I would encourage teenagers to read it!

It reminded me of my younger days. I was always into books like this. Not all happy all the time, and some meat to a story.

Definitely a refreshing read. I can't wait for Illumination!!!

Excerpt- Patrick's Perspective:

"You were very easy to lead as well, Patrick. A couple of reluctant hints and nervous glances and you were all too willing to believe I wanted to help you bring down the Fae." He chuckles at what he perceives as my na├»ve ways. "That is a lost cause, Dolan. We're better off just making the best of the situation at hand.”

"Only a coward would say that. My mother had that vision for a reason. Our family was destined to help humanity break free of the Fae. My children will see that destiny come to fruition, regardless of you or the King.” I still believe that to be the truth. This will all mean something in the end. My sacrifice will have weight in the future of humanity. That is my prize even if I never get out of here, and the thought gives me some small measure of comfort.

He laughs at me outright. "Oh, listen to you! Still so sure of a plan set out for you in a dream. She couldn't give you any details to help you out? That doesn't seem fair to me.”

"You have no purpose in your life. No family. If you weren't such a sick excuse for a human being, I'd pity you,” I tell him, and that finally seems to break his new jubilant aura and pique his ire, which makes me a little happier than it probably should. If I can’t kill him as painfully as possible, I’d at least like to make him half as miserable as I am.

Kennedy’s voice is hard and cold as ice, but he has that same matter-of-fact delivery as when he spoke of the poor souls he murdered when he says, "I don't need your pity. If I complete my task, I can have anything I want here. That includes a turn with your wife. Think about that while you rot in here.” Red hot fury rages through me when he mentions Maeve, and then I feel my world break apart with his parting words. “I have to go pay a visit to your kids and finish my job. That's my purpose."
