Excerpt

The loud roar of a tractor in the lane, and then an incessant tooting of a horn abruptly cut her daydreams short. She jumped up and looked over the garden fence to the road below. There was the huge red machine, inches behind her fiesta, inside sat a large dark haired man scowling in the cab. She opened the gate and ran down the path, smiling she started to make apologetic noises that dried in her throat as he jumped out of the cab and roared at her. “What the fuck do you think you are doing parking in the middle of the lane?” If he had not put her back up with his foul mouthed tirade, she may have had time to notice how his lean muscular body was bursting from the open shirt roughly tucked into fading jeans that covered strong, long legs. She would have admired his square jaw and high cheekbones covered by skin tanned from years working outside, or the way he tossed his unruly dark hair away from his deep blue eyes with a flick of his head. But no, all she could see was some uncouth local, bad mouthing her because she had the audacity to park her car outside her cottage. She glared back at him and replied with ice cool politeness. “This is a private lane and I have every right to park my car outside my property”. There that told him. He walked towards her, his six foot two frame towering over her and continued to glare. “If you had bothered to read your property documents thoroughly, you would have seen that my farm has a right of way down this lane to the field at the end, so you will have to park your car on the grass verge”. She glared back, her temper rising, “Well, if you had knocked on my door and asked politely I might have been of a mind to move it, but as you don’t appear to have a polite bone in your body you can whistle pal”. And with that she turned on her heel and marched back up the path to her cottage, slamming the gate shut she shot inside before he could reply.

Kim’s Review
Life For Rent was a very good story. It centers on the main characters Beth and Liam.
Beth is a recent addition the little village of Cornwall. She is running away from her past (and a tragic one at that) and on the first day ends up meeting Liam. Of course, all could go horribly wrong and they don’t exactly start off on the right foot.
Liam is a farmer in the same little village. Liam has a tragic past as well, and being a farmer on his family property is more out of obligation than want.
The two of them find an attraction to one another, but both are a tad bit scared to put their hearts on the line.
Of course, to add to the relationship between the two of them, local villagers, especially the talkative Bunny, seem to think that an old bit of folklore is happening again and that the two absolutely must get together by mid summers night eve, but are they willing to give love a shot or too afraid to even try especially when pressure is put on them?
If you are looking for a very good story to read that has a loveable story line, please pick this book up. I highly enjoyed it and loved the characters and how they were written. The author does a great job of describing scenery and places that are in or near the village and takes you right into the pages and makes you feel that you are there in person.
