Aberrant By Ruth Silver

Title-Aberrant By Ruth Silver
Expected Publication Date: April 17, 2013
Cover Designed by Lazy Day Publishing

In the future dystopian society of Cabal, the government instills equality for all and offers its citizens the perfect system. There is food, shelter and jobs for everyone. The one requirement is to follow the rules without question, including the government's match in marriage and "The Day of the Chosen", a lottery that randomly selects families to conceive children as natural means hasn't existed in generations. Following her eighteenth birthday, Olivia Parker accepts her requirement to marry her childhood best friend, Joshua Warren, and is eager to start her work assignment and new life when it all comes abruptly to an end as she's arrested and thrown in prison. The only crime committed, her existence. Olivia is unlike the rest of the world born not from "The Day of the Chosen." The truth haunts the government and puts her life in grave danger as one simple fact would destroy the perfect system. With Joshua's help, Olivia breaks free of prison and is forced on the run. Together they set out to find the promised rebel town in search of a new home and new life together. Their situation seems less than promising as they reach the town of Haven. New rules and customs must be adhered to in order to stay. Leaving would mean most certain death in the large expanse of the Gravelands. Time is running out as the government mounts an attack to destroy Olivia and bury her secret with her. Thrown into a world unlike their own, they must quickly adapt to survive.

Kindle Paperback-(Pre-Order)

When I signed up to read this book, I did it because I liked the cover.  But hell yeah, I found another 5 star book!  I think my jaw dropped when I realized that the children are expected to marry when they graduate from high school and don't even get the choice to pick their mate.  Luckily for Olivia, she gets paired with Joshua, her best friend.  However, in a unseen turn of events, she is arrested, for being born naturally, not in a lab.  Her mother held this huge secret that she was able to get pregnant naturally not have a child chosen for her, which means that Olivia, might be able to conceive naturally as well.

This whole thing turns Olivia's life upside down, she ends up escaping jail and leaves to go to another city with Joshua.  It turns out, there is a rebellion and other city's that exist. But will leaving really be the best thing for them or does it turn out that nothing is what it seems?  That's the question that I kept asking myself.

This book definitely holds your attention. Its got great mystery to it and some WTF moments for me because these people really have no freedom from their government and it just blows me away that Olivia is seen as someone who might be able to change it all.  Is it for her benefit or other cities just wanting to overrule the government?

Be sure to add this book to your "to read" list, you certainly will not be disappointed and will be waiting for more!
